About WhoCalledMe.io
WhoCalledMe.io is a free reverse phone lookup service for US phone numbers. We help Americans identify unknown callers and protect themselves from phone scams, spam calls, and robocalls.
Our Mission
Every day, millions of Americans receive unwanted phone calls from scammers, telemarketers, and robocallers. Our mission is to provide a comprehensive, free tool to identify these callers and help people make informed decisions about which calls to answer.
Who We Are
WhoCalledMe.io is operated by a team of web developers and data analysts dedicated to consumer protection and online safety. We combine government data with community reports to build the most reliable phone number database available.
Our Data Sources
Unlike competitors that rely solely on user reports, we aggregate data from official US government sources:
- FTC Do Not Call Complaints – Daily imports from the Federal Trade Commission consumer complaint database, containing millions of real consumer-reported unwanted call records.
- FCC Consumer Complaints – Full consumer complaints dataset from the Federal Communications Commission, including unwanted calls, robocalls, and telemarketing violations.
- Community Reports – User-submitted reports from visitors who have received calls from these numbers.
- Phone Number Enrichment – We use carrier and location data to identify the type and origin of each phone number.
Data Update Frequency
- Daily – New FTC and FCC complaints imported automatically (approximately 1,000 new numbers per day)
- Daily – Phone number enrichment (carrier, location, line type detection)
- Continuously – User-submitted reports published in real-time

We cover all US phone numbers including:
- All 300+ US area codes
- Landline, mobile, VoIP, and toll-free numbers

- Scam / Fraud reports – Highest weight (100 points)
- Spam reports – High weight (90 points)
- Robocall reports – Medium-high weight (70 points)
- Telemarketing reports – Medium weight (60 points)
- Unknown caller reports – Low weight (40 points)
- Legitimate reports – Zero weight (0 points)
